Prime Minister Imran Khan is participating in the distribution ceremony of 1500 houses, flats among Pakistani labourers in Islamabad.
The ceremony started with a short speech by the PM’s aide on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari.
Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed has said the premier’s promise to provide shelter to the homeless will be fulfilled.
In a statement, he said PM Khan will distribute residential flats and houses to the labour class under the Workers Welfare Fund.
The minister said more than 1000 flats and 500 houses have been completed under the Naya Pakistan Housing project.
For the first time, workers and labourers are being provided with their own roof on a mortgage basis, Saeed said.
Therefore, Under this scheme, houses will be distributed among widows and disabled, besides Pakistani labourers on ownership rights to those who are earning less than Rs 0.5 million.
