Lahore Administration Starts Basant Festival Preparations

The Lahore administration has announced that preparations for the Basant festival will officially begin this week.

As part of the process, online registration for kite and string manufacturers and sellers will also open this week. Officials stated that only those who complete the registration will be permitted to manufacture and sell kites and string.

According to the administration, the sale of kites and string will be allowed only through stalls set up at approved locations in the Walled City. In addition, citizens will be able to apply for kite manufacturing permits through an online portal.

Sources revealed that permission for manufacturing kites and string will be issued strictly under Schedule One regulations.

This year, manufacturers will be allowed to produce and sell one-and-a-half tawa gadda and four-and-a-half gath kites.

While kite and string production will be allowed across the city, manufacturers must inform the administration in advance about their production locations.

Authorities emphasized that all registered manufacturers and sellers must strictly follow the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure that Basant activities remain safe, organised, and well-managed.
