The Murree district administration has enforced Section 144 to manage crowds during the Christmas, Quaid-e-Azam Day, and New Year holidays.

According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, Murree’s Mall Road and GPO Chowk will be accessible only to families during this period. These restrictions will be in place from December 24 to 26 and again from December 30 to January 1.

Authorities have warned that anyone violating these orders will face action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

In a separate decision, the district administration has also imposed a 90-day ban on all construction activities throughout Murree. The ban includes the construction of houses, hotels, commercial buildings, and other infrastructure, as well as mining, stone crushing, excavation, and the transportation of construction materials.

This construction ban has come into effect immediately and will remain enforced for 90 days or until the completion of the Murree Master Plan, whichever comes first.

Officials stated that these measures are aimed at protecting Murree’s natural environment and ensuring public safety during the peak tourist season. Residents and visitors have been urged to cooperate with the administration for smooth implementation of these decisions.
