Punjab Launches Green Property Certificates in 20 Districts
The Punjab government has started a new land record reform by launching Green Property Certificates in 20 districts. This new system aims to make property ownership clear, secure, and transparent across the province.
According to officials, the digital property certificate system is already active in Sialkot, Multan, Sahiwal, and Jhelum. Other districts included in the first phase are Rawalpindi, Okara, Khushab, and more. The government plans to expand the project step by step until it covers all districts of Punjab.
The Punjab Land Records Authority said that the Green Property Certificate will clearly show the exact boundaries of a property. It will also act as official, government-verified proof of ownership.
This initiative is expected to reduce land disputes, protect real property owners, and stop fraud and fake documents in property dealings.
The Director General of the Land Records Authority said the certificates will be officially verified by the Punjab government. He called the project an important step toward improving the land administration system in Punjab.
He added that the new system will help buyers and sellers feel more confident and bring greater transparency to the real estate sector, which has faced problems with fake papers and ownership disputes for many years.
