Speculation as Pervaiz Elahi meets Asif Ali Zardari

The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and major ally to PTI, Ch Pervaiz Elahi, visited Bilawal House on Tuesday and met Asif Ali Zardari from PPP-P. This sparked speculation. Asif Ali Zardari, the former president, is currently in Lahore. Parvez Elahi was warmly welcomed at Bilawal House by Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the press release the leaders discussed current political issues and issues related to the parliament. They agreed on the rule of law as well as the independence of the judiciary. Parvez met with Hamza Shehbaz from the opposition in Punjab Assembly in his chamber this week.

There was speculation about the Tuesday meeting. Unconfirmed reports claim that Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with Lt Gen (R), Abdul Qadir Baloch and Zehri brothers. According to some reports, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa (ex-president of PML–N Punjab), was also open to joining the PPP if Bilawal and Zardari visited him.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi stated in a press release that he visited Bilawal House to express gratitude to Zardari for supporting the unopposed Senate Elections in Punjab. Although he stated that he would like to meet Asif Zardari in Karachi, he indicated that the meeting could be held in Lahore.

Sardar Zulfiqar, speaking From Dera Ghazi Khan denied that he was being lured by the PPP for his support. He stated that he wasn’t involved in politics at the moment. Asif Ali Zardari was a friend and he said that he was in mutual respect with him.

His son Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, son, was part of the PPP. Sardar Saifuddin Khan Khosa, his other son, was also part of the PTI. However, “I am a senior politician, and I am not politically active these days. While I’m back in DG Khan, the top PPP leadership is currently in Lahore. It’s amazing how people can speculate out of the blue.

Therefore, Sardar said that he would not hesitate to talk politics with the PPP supremo in spite of our close relationships with family.
